 The Little Italian Hotel

By Phaedra Patrick

Published June 6,

Thank you Harlequin and NetGalley for the advance copy.

Book Summary:

When a relationship expert’s own marriage falls apart, she invites four strangers to Italy for a vacation of healing and second chances in this uplifting new novel from the author of The Messy Lives of Book People.

Ginny Splinter, acclaimed radio host and advice expert, prides herself on knowing what’s best for others. So she’s sure her husband, Adrian, will love the special trip to Italy she’s planned for their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary. But when Ginny presents the gift to Adrian, he surprises her with his own very different plan—a divorce.

Beside herself with heartache, Ginny impulsively invites four heartbroken listeners to join her in Italy instead while live on air. From hiking the hills of Bologna to riding a gondola in Venice to sharing stories around the dining table of the little Italian hotel, Ginny and her newfound company embark on a vacation of healing.

However, when Adrian starts to rethink their relationship, Ginny must decide whether to commit to her marriage or start afresh, alone. And an unexpected stranger may hold the key to a very different future… Sunny, tender and brimming with charm,
The Little Italian Hotel explores marriage, identity and reclaiming the present moment—even if it means leaving the past behind.

My Review:

I was invested in this story from the first sentence. What do you do when your life is at its lowest and the chance to travel to Italy presents itself? You enter to go and try to heal.

I loved this quirky cast of characters, their backstory and how they each wove with the others. The setting in Italy was described beautifully!

I highly recommend this book!

--Blurb--

For precisely $102 dollars, Mitch Benson and Lauren Templeton marry in a 15-minute ceremony inside a little Las Vegas chapel. Soulmates since elementary school, nothing makes more sense than eloping to Sin City for a secret wedding.

But seven years later, the brilliant glare from the city of lights has faded.

Scratch that. The bulbs are burnt out.

In fact, the wiring may have been faulty all along.

Bitterly accepting that their marriage is coming to an end, Mitch and Lauren stray further and further from the love that once blossomed on the playground of their youth.

Lauren sells her soul to Pier Ninety-Two, her once-fabulous restaurant in downtown Los Angeles now a sad shadow in the Saturday night party scene. And Mitch falls into the arms—er, legs—of none other than childhood enemy, Tess Browning.

Devastated by the direction their love has spiraled, Mitch and Lauren make one last trip to the city of second chances, hoping to turn their pennies into the million-dollar love they once shared.

Will their last roll be a miracle—or a mirage—in the desert?

Book Review - Better Together

Better Together by Mandi Blake

First of all, thank you to this wonderful author for asking me to read the 4th book of the Wolf Creek Ranch series.

I loved Colt and Reno’s story. Their love is so true and pure. This story fits in perfectly with the rest of the series!
I highly recommend this book and the series.

Book Review-Mary Jane

Mary Jane by Jessica Anya Blau

Mary Jane learns a lot about life and growing up over a teenage summer while nannying for a doctor and his wife.

This audiobook had me from the start. It’s an entertaining coming of age story. The characters were entertaining. I highly recommend this book.

Book Review-The Reading List

The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams

I finished this book a week ago and I still thinking about it! I picked it up with no expectations then rode the emotional roller coaster. I laughed, I cried, got angry with a couple of characters.

I loved this book and it will be one of my “always recommend” books for a very long time!

-Blurb-

I just want to play baseball, but unless I seek out some help that won't be in the cards for me. I'm not sure what I expected when my father made arrangements for a tutor, but it definitely wasn't her. I should know her. Everyone in town knows her family and their story. But until she rolled her eyes at me, I hadn't noticed her before. I don't know what to do with myself, because now? The girl who's spent so long faded into the background of this town is someone I can't unsee. I want to protect her. But more than that, I just want her. But I'm not positive that's in the cards.

Athletes needing my help, to qualify to play, isn't anything new. I've been academically coaching varsity since I was a freshman. But never in my wildest dreams would I have anticipated this particular offer. Malcolm Kade is an all-star shortstop, arrogant prince of the castle, and son of the mayor. And I'm pretty sure that while he has ties to my family, he didn't even know I existed until his father hired me. Now, fading into the background is impossible because of his proximity. Being caught like a deer in headlights, on this town's social radar is not what I wanted. Now that I'm here though, I can't help but wonder: will it be worth it?
