Wow....

I know I have been very blog absent - and I'm sorry!  I am also WAY behind on my blog reading.

Photography has been pretty consuming lately - which I am thrilled about! Between photo shoots; editing and posting - yea! But it's a good - no, GREAT - busy!!!!  I have a couple new photo posts over on my other blog My photo blog.
**And if you know someone in the northern Illinois area looking for a photographer, I'd love to talk to them.

I will try to be a little more present here and thanks for hanging around. Have a great Monday and rest of the week.

We're stopping at the Mug-n-Bun Drive In

It's located at: 5211 W. 10th Street

(very close to the Speedway)

We enjoyed burgers and fries - the food was good and the price was very reasonable.
If you're in the area - stop by!

Weekend recap

WOW - what a GORGEOUS weekend we had here!

I grilled out Friday night. I'm not a real good griller but I gave pork chops a go. Meh...

Saturday morning, Little Miss and I were up early and out the door to a 5K. My first in over 12 years and her first ever. She ran most of it - and the last little over a mile with my brother in law. They finished in about 42 minutes. I walked it and made it in about 55 minutes - which was under the hour I was aiming for.

We went home, cleaned up and I headed to a photo shoot, with Little Miss as my assistant. It was an 80th birthday party and that family was a BLAST! The nursing home as a little warm so I showered again when we got home.

Saturday night, we got pizza and had dinner with some friends. The kids played outside until dark and we had a nice time visiting.

Yesterday morning, Little Miss and I went grocery shopping and picked up supplies for volunteer work this week. I worked at the library in the afternoon and my mom stayed with Miss (thanks mom!). Last night we all just sat on the couch and watched TV.

How was your weekend?

Psst - if you are a yarn crafter, check out my other post today and I hope you'll join in the fun!

Just a reminder...

In a few weeks, Eskimimi is hosting her 6th annual knit & crochet blog week.  It is May 11-17, 2015 this year.  The topics to blog are up, you can find them:

There's some good ones (as usual) and I hope you'll join in!

Is this Heaven?

Happy Tuesday! Today we're hitting the road (and linking up at A Compass Rose) for another edition of Travel Tuesday. Buckle your seatbelt, we're going on a little road trip.

Today we're visiting Dyersville, Iowa - a town about 30 miles west of Dubuque off US Route 20. While you are there, make sure you visit the National Farm Toy Museum and Basiilica of St. Francis Xavier, both are worth a stop.

Today I am going to show MY favorite spot in Dyersville----Field of Dreams movie site.  So, when you visit, bring your glove and bat, prepare to run the bases or sit in the stands and relax. On your drive to the movie site, take in the scenery...know what movie lines will echo in your head?
'Is this Heaven?'
'No, it's Iowa.'

Enjoy Iowa!

Thank you!

Part of our county and the county to our west were devastated by tornados last night. I am grateful we are safe and saddened for those who aren't or have lost everything.

Thank you to those of you who texted, FB messaged and emailed to check on us.

Please pray for all those affected and first responders and volunteers as the light of day today will bring a lot of reality to a lot of people.

God bless you!

Travel Tuesday

This past weekend we made a little trek to St. Louis.
We love that city and love that it's not too far a drive!

We made a stop in Springfield IL at Cozy Dog for a late lunch.

Hello St. Louis!!!!

Note: currently the exit right over the river on 55 is closed so traffic is a mess.

We spent Friday evening at the mall and got ice cream from Fritz's - YUM!!!

Hanging in the hotel on Saturday morning.

We decided to spend Saturday in the city.
We had lunch at Pappy's Smoke House - YUM!
We wanted to take the boat ride - so we headed to the Arch. By the way, right now - there is a MAJOR construction project going on in that area as they beautify/update that area. So be prepared for roads that end and lots of people walking!

This is the rotunda in the Old Capitol - it is just beautiful and there is an awesome museum in there.

We got out boat tickets and had a couple hours to pass, so we decided to take a carriage ride. We had a GREAT driver who knew lots about the history of St. Louis and many of the landmarks. The kids really enjoyed it.

 The carriage ride "postcard shot"

The carriage ride "selfie shot"

After our ride, we walked down by the river to hang out and wait. It was a gorgeous day!
Family us-ie under the Arch

"Be silly!"

We enjoyed our Mississippi River boat ride - it was about an hour and we got a little riverfront history.

Sunday (Easter) we headed to Six Flags.  PERFECT day and very thin crowds!!!!!  I don't think I will ever get to ride The Boss there, though. It's always closed when we're there...

Young Mr. and I waiting to ride American Thunder (yes, that's me in "enemy territory" wearing Cubbie Blue)

while Little Miss and Mr. wait to ride the train.

The weater was sunny and 70 all weekend - PERFECT spring weather!!!!
