My Review:

I was invested in this story from the first sentence. What do you do when your life is at its lowest and the chance to travel to Italy presents itself? You enter to go and try to heal.

I loved this quirky cast of characters, their backstory and how they each wove with the others. The setting in Italy was described beautifully!

I highly recommend this book!

Mary Jane by Jessica Anya Blau

Mary Jane learns a lot about life and growing up over a teenage summer while nannying for a doctor and his wife.

This audiobook had me from the start. It’s an entertaining coming of age story. The characters were entertaining. I highly recommend this book.

Book Review-The Reading List

The Reading List by Sara Nisha Adams

I finished this book a week ago and I still thinking about it! I picked it up with no expectations then rode the emotional roller coaster. I laughed, I cried, got angry with a couple of characters.

I loved this book and it will be one of my “always recommend” books for a very long time!

Grier is in Alaska for the same reason so many others are--to disappear--when Chief Long enlists his help. He emerges from the shadows and proves his mettle, but his presence in her life could be a deadly trap for them both. If his secret is exposed, all will be lost. And he's not sure even Autumn could save him.

As the stakes rise and the dangers increase, Autumn and Grier must rely on each other to extinguish the deadly threats.

Book Review

Thank you Partners in Crime for including me in this book tour!

Even though secrets lie off the coast of Rock Harbor, the truth will set Annie Pederson free—if it doesn’t kill her first.

Nine-year-old Annie Pederson’s life changed the night her sister was kidnapped. The two had been outside playing on a dock, and Annie never forgave herself for her role in her sister’s disappearance. Twenty-four years later and now a law enforcement ranger, Annie is still searching for answers as she grieves a new loss: the death of her husband and parents in a boating accident.

But Annie and her eight-year-old daughter, Kylie, aren’t the only people in the town of Rock Harbor whose lives have been marred by tragedy. While managing the property around the Tremolo Resort and Marina she inherited, Annie discovers a dead body floating in the cold Superior surf and begins to work with the sheriff’s office to tie the death to a series of other mysterious reports in the area.

At the same time, her first love, Jon Dustan, returns after nine years away, reigniting the town’s memory of a cold case he’d been suspiciously linked to before he left to pursue his orthopedic residency. For the sake of her investigation and her heart, Annie tries to stay away. But avoiding Jon becomes impossible once Annie realizes she is being targeted by someone desperate to keep secrets from the past hidden.

In this new series, bestselling romantic-suspense author Colleen Coble returns to one of her most beloved towns, where familiar faces—and unsolved cases—await.

This book was quite a journey through several of the author’s life changes. Book Review-The Last House on the Street

Title: The Last House on the Street

Author: Diane Chberlain

Genre: Historical Fiction

Format: Advance copy e-book from Netgalley

Synopsis

1965
Growing up in the well-to-do town of Round Hill, North Carolina, Ellie Hockley was raised to be a certain type of proper Southern lady. Enrolled in college and all but engaged to a bank manager, Ellie isn’t as committed to her expected future as her family believes. She’s chosen to spend her summer break as a volunteer helping to register black voters. But as Ellie follows her ideals fighting for the civil rights of the marginalized, her scandalized parents scorn her efforts, and her neighbors reveal their prejudices. And when she loses her heart to a fellow volunteer, Ellie discovers the frightening true nature of the people living in Round Hill.

2010
Architect Kayla Carter and her husband designed a beautiful house for themselves in Round Hill’s new development, Shadow Ridge Estates. It was supposed to be a home where they could raise their three-year-old daughter and grow old together. Instead, it’s the place where Kayla’s husband died in an accident—a fact known to a mysterious woman who warns Kayla against moving in. The woods and lake behind the property are reputed to be haunted, and the new home has been targeted by vandals leaving threatening notes. And Kayla’s neighbor Ellie Hockley is harboring long buried secrets about the dark history of the land where her house was built.

Two women. Two stories. Both on a collision course with the truth--no matter what that truth may bring to light--in Diane Chamberlain's riveting, powerful novel about the search for justice.

My Thoughts Ms. Chamberlin has written another fantastic book. This book grabbed me from the start and didn’t let go until the end. The twin storylines twist together wonderfully. I enjoyed the suspense and civil rights era timeline.

Book Review-The Minor Third

Title: The Minor Third (3rd book of The Magical Misfits series)

Author: Neil Patrick Harris

Genre: Juvenile fantasy

Format: audio on Libby app

Synopsis:

Theo Stein-Meyer loves being part of the Magic Misfits. Armed with his trusty violin bow, he completes the team with his levitation skills, unflappable calm, and proper manners. But when a girl named Emily begins to spend time with the group and the other Misfits grow suspicious, Theo is surprisingly drawn to her. She seems to understand the pull he feels between music and magic, family and friends.

Then a famous ventriloquist arrives in town, and the Misfits are sure he (and his creepy dummy Daniel) are up to no good. With their mentor, Mr. Vernon, suddenly called away and tension simmering among the friends, will they be able to come together to stop this newest member of the mysterious Emerald Ring? It's time for Theo to make a choice about where -- and with whom -- he belongs.

My Thoughts:

I have enjoyed the three books I have read of this series. The Misfits like to solve mysteries together using their special talents and abilities. All the Misfits are lovable and entertaining. I’m looking forward to reading the fourth book.

If you enjoy the first two Harry Potter books, you would probably enjoy these as well.
