Book Review - Magic Misfits

Genre: Middle Grade Fiction
My rating: 4 stars

Publisher’s synopsis:

From award-winning actor, Neil Patrick Harris, comes the magical first book in a new series with plenty of tricks up its sleeve.

When street magician Carter runs away, he never expects to find friends and magic in a sleepy New England town. But like any good trick, things change instantly as greedy B.B. Bosso and his crew of crooked carnies arrive to steal anything and everything they can get their sticky fingers on.

After a fateful encounter with the local purveyor of illusion, Dante Vernon, Carter teams up with five other like-minded illusionists. Together, using both teamwork and magic, they'll set out to save the town of Mineral Wells from Bosso's villainous clutches. These six Magic Misfits will soon discover adventure, friendship, and their own self-worth in this delightful new series.

My review:
This is a fun, humorous middle grade reads. There is lots of magic, adventure, and friendship. Written in Neil Patrick Harris style, with sly humor and one liners.
I highly recommend this book and am looking forward to more books in the series.

Thoughts on....

We watched this last night.

I will admit, the first half hour, I was ready to turn the channel. It just seemed to be dragging.
Once I accepted it as a musical, it was ok.

I wouldn't highly recommend this but it was ok. Some of the casting choices were not so great, BUT....  I will say I enjoyed Matthew Brodrick as grown up Ralphie and as always, Jane Krakowski as Miss Shields was FANTASTIC!

3 hours was a little long for me but what else did I have to do on a Sunday evening?

I would give this 2 - 2 1/2 stars.

Book Review - Good Sam

Good Sam
by Dete Meserve
My rating: 5 stars

Synoposis:
After years covering murders, disasters, and tragedy for Los Angeles TV news, Kate Bradley knows that violence and cruelty are everywhere and that good is hard to find. When she is assigned to cover a story about ten people who have each found $100,000 in cash on their front porch, Kate is intrigued by the anonymous Good Samaritan, dubbed Good Sam, who is behind it all. As interest in the extraordinary gifts sweeps across the country, Kate finds the elusive Good Sam and her exclusive interview with him thrusts her into the national spotlight. Even as his message captivates viewers and wins ratings, Kate suspects he may not be all he claims to be and that the real Good Sam is still out there. Searching for answers, Kate unravels the powerful and unexpected reason behind the mysterious cash gifts and the true identity of Good Sam becomes the biggest surprise story of her career, turning her personal and professional life upside down.

My thoughts:
I loved this whole book! I loved the twists and turns; the feel good parts and the not-so-feel good parts. I think you should pick this one up!

Happy reading!

Book Review-A Wedding in Italy

I received a copy of this book as an ARC from Tilly Tennant and NetGalley.

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Publisher's Synoposis:
Sun, spaghetti and sparkling prosecco. When it comes to finding love, there’s no place like Rome…

Kate is living the dream with her gorgeous boyfriend Alessandro in his native city, but the reality is sometimes a little less romantic than she’d hoped. Every day in her new home is a fight against leaking pipes, her cantankerous landlord and her less-than-perfect grasp of the Italian lingo.

All around her there is talk of weddings, but when a secret from her past is thrust out into the open, Kate must fight to prove to Alessandro’s Mamma – and the rest of his formidable family – that she truly is Italian marriage material.

With the women in Alessandro’s life on a mission to break them apart, the cracks begin to show and Kate starts to question if Alessandro really is the man of her dreams. Can love and the city of romance conquer all, or is that just a fairy-tale?

My thoughts:
This is an entertaining read. I loved Kate, Alessandro and Alessandro's family. The characters are exactly what I think of when I think of Italian families. I laughed a lot and cried a little while reading this one. I highly recommend it!

My rating:
5 stars

Congratulations on Publication Day, Ms. Tennant!

Beauty review

First, THANK YOU to Influenster for including me in their Spring Vox Box.
I am going to review one of the products here, but expect to hear about all the products I received very soon!

Today's review is of Kiss Everlasting French nails

These were relatively easy to apply. I spent more time matching the nail size and filing them to fit my weird shaped nails.
They looked great and wore pretty well.

This was after day 2:

Unfortunately, on day 4 three of the nails fell off. I have removed them all now. My nails do not look or feel damaged.

I would definately use these again!
