52 Frames Photo Challenge

I decided to commit to a photo challenge this year. I joined 52 Frames with a weekly theme challenge. My hope is it will encourage me to get my camera out more and improve my skills.

Week 1: Self Portrait

This was a REALLY hard one for me! I am usually the one behind the camera and I know I am overly critical of myself. BUT, this was the one I submitted.

 Week 2: Blue

One Christmas bulb caught my eye near our local courthouse.

Photography Truths

A few truths I have reflected on over the past year.


*I have made some amazing friends through photography


*I believe that photography is an art, hence there is no "right or wrong" way to do it


*I love the people I have met through sessions.


*I feel honored that people trust me with their precious family memories.


*It is an honor when a current client refers me on to someone they know.

It's that day again! Happy Wednesday!

Here's what I'm loving this week:

*Beautiful sunsets the past week

*We got a cupcake shop in town! Their lemon and red velvet are to die for!!!!

*Beautiful weather means parking lot lunches - sandwiches and a book. You can't beat that in February!

*She turned 13 on Sunday

*Potential photo clients are starting to contact me. I'm hoping to book some shoots this spring.

*Reading blogs

*Baseball is back in season

*My husband & kids keeping me on my toes - they are so silly sometimes

*Have I mentioned the amazingly awesome weather we've had the last week?!  ;)

*I have been able to wear my skirts and dresses and not freeze to death.

*My sister in law in Florida hoping to get "one more day of boot weather" while I am wondering where our sandals are for today.

*Coffee!!!!!

Weekend

This past weekend flew by - again! I took zero photos of ANYTHING! Sorry....


Saturday, I woke up with a killer headache. I popped a couple of Aleve and made it through my day at the library. It was in the mid-50s most of the day. My Mr. & I took a long walk after work, it seemed to help clear my head a little.  Then it was pizza for dinner.


Yesterday was a HAPPY EASTER day! It started out cloudy but relatively warm. We had brunch with my in-laws at a local restaurant. Then we watched the last Hunger Games movie with Little Miss (meh...). Then I edited some photos, read a book, napped and did as little as possible the rest of the day.


Oh, and I had a mini-freak out about starting my PPA (Professional Photographers Association) certification process.... There is SO much to learn and know! Not sure if this "old dog" can learn "new tricks" for this venture.

Friday Eve

It's what got me out of bed this morning - tomorrow is Friday!

Over on my photography blog today, I posted my Bucket List for the year. I hope to stay really busy over there and book lots of shoots. Other than that, I have a couple knitting projects I have neglected all week. I need a good TV viewing night so I can just sit, watch and knit.


Not too much planned for the weekend. I work on Saturday; Sunday will be housework and if the weather cooperates, maybe a photo walkabout.

Cheers to 2015!

2015 was a busy year for us. My husband's business kept him very busy. We did some traveling. I launched my photography biz and it kept me pretty busy.

I look forward to 2016! I hope my business continues to grow.

I have a few goals for the new year:

Photograph at least 3 shoots/month

Improve/update my wardrobe

Do a more "nice" things for myself

Read 50 books

Exercise 3 times/week

What I'm loving this Wednesday:

1. My photo blog (link is: HERE). I've gotten a few posts up this week of some recent photo shoots.

2. My friend Laura's book came out yesterday

I hope you'll buy a copy or get it from your library.

3. Had an awesome meeting with a fellow photog on Sunday - looking forward to shooting with her in the future. I feel very inspired!

4. Twitter (I didn't think I'd ever say that!). I have started using it for my photography promo and am getting some pretty awesome retweets and followers. (PS: my twitter handle is: cubsfan3410)

5. It's Wednesday!!!!!  Come on weekend.

6. Armchair traveling. Some of my fellow bloggers and Instagramers are taking some AMAZING vacations this summer!

Wow....

I know I have been very blog absent - and I'm sorry!  I am also WAY behind on my blog reading.

Photography has been pretty consuming lately - which I am thrilled about! Between photo shoots; editing and posting - yea! But it's a good - no, GREAT - busy!!!!  I have a couple new photo posts over on my other blog My photo blog.

Hello Monday

Well this weekend flew by quickly!

 

The Mr. and I celebrated our anniversary on Saturday. We went to see Interstellar (with Matthew McCoughnhey - sp...). We were not impressed...  It's a very long movie and most of it is incredibly dull! We did enjoy our dinner at Ruby Tuesday's though.

 

Yesterday morning, I had a beautiful family brave the snow and cold temps for their family Christmas/winter photos. You can check out a few of my favorites at my photo blog. I am very happy with how they turned out.

 

Winter is upon us here in northern Illinois - the high temp over the next 5 days is 23F (I believe on Thursday).
