Sunday Post

I’m joining Caffeinated Reader this week for Sunday Post. Feel free to join in too!

LAST WEEK:
It was an interesting week last week. Our air conditioning in the house went out on Monday night. It’s such an old system that parts have been a struggle to get. Thank goodness you hasn’t been real hot!

Our daughter had her wisdom teeth taken out on Friday. She’s pretty tough and been handling her pain pretty well.

Other than that, it’s been work and laundry. Nothing real exciting!

CURRENTLY READING:
Audio:

Physical book:

I’m enjoying both of them.

CURRENTLY WATCHING:

I’m hoping for an uneventful week ahead.

Happy Sunday!

The weekend

is over already....  Happy Tax Day!!!!  The weather over the weekend was GORGEOUS and it went WAY too fast!!!!!

I am linking up today with B Loved Boston for her weekend recap link up.

We didn't do A LOT but Little Miss & I enjoyed the weather as much as we could. My Mr. and Young Mr. worked all weekend digging fence post holes and got sunburned.

Saturday morning, Mr. & I went for a 6 mile walk (after 4 miles on Friday evening). My legs are still killing me!
The boys headed out to work and Little Miss & I took our books out to the porch to relax a little. I pulled weeds and Little Miss picked up sticks and junk in the yard for a couple of hours.

Little Miss wanted to do a little "photo shoot" with her Littlest Pet Shop animals. She staged, I shot.

We all caught the matinee of The Jungle Book.
It was a little drug out in places but followed the story very closely (which I always appreciate!).

Yesterday morning, was more porch reading. I had to work in the afternoon, so Little Miss & I walked to the library to soak up a little more "nice".

After work, I made chicken alfredo for dinner - it wasn't too bad!

I watched Mr. & Mrs. Cardinal start making their nest in our bushes out front. It should be an interesting spring if they are going to be around!

I hope you all had a good weekend!

Weekend

This past weekend flew by - again! I took zero photos of ANYTHING! Sorry....

Saturday, I woke up with a killer headache. I popped a couple of Aleve and made it through my day at the library. It was in the mid-50s most of the day. My Mr. & I took a long walk after work, it seemed to help clear my head a little.  Then it was pizza for dinner.

Yesterday was a HAPPY EASTER day! It started out cloudy but relatively warm. We had brunch with my in-laws at a local restaurant. Then we watched the last Hunger Games movie with Little Miss (meh...). Then I edited some photos, read a book, napped and did as little as possible the rest of the day.

Oh, and I had a mini-freak out about starting my PPA (Professional Photographers Association) certification process.... There is SO much to learn and know! Not sure if this "old dog" can learn "new tricks" for this venture.

How was your weekend?

Is this Heaven?

Happy Tuesday! Today we're hitting the road (and linking up at A Compass Rose) for another edition of Travel Tuesday. Buckle your seatbelt, we're going on a little road trip.

Today we're visiting Dyersville, Iowa - a town about 30 miles west of Dubuque off US Route 20. While you are there, make sure you visit the National Farm Toy Museum and Basiilica of St. Francis Xavier, both are worth a stop.

Today I am going to show MY favorite spot in Dyersville----Field of Dreams movie site.  So, when you visit, bring your glove and bat, prepare to run the bases or sit in the stands and relax. On your drive to the movie site, take in the scenery...know what movie lines will echo in your head?
'Is this Heaven?'
'No, it's Iowa.'

Enjoy Iowa!

WILW

Happy Wednesday!  I know I've been blog absent for almost a week - sorry! I was enjoying the nice weather last weekend and the activities we had planned and this week has just gotten away from me.

BUT - here we are at Wednesday. The weekend is in view and I'm linking up with Jodi and Rachel for What I'm Loving Wednesday.

What I'm Loving Wednesday

1. Today is National Ag Day! (March 18) So make sure you thank a farmer.

2. I got my first smart phone last week. There's been a lot of learning and I'm still a little afraid of it but it's pretty nice to be connected to the world wherever I am (if I want!)

3. Jim Gaffigan. We watched some of his stand up Saturday night (on TV) and I think he is hilarious. So of course, knowing that he has written a couple of books - I had to check one out. I am listening to:
read by him. HILARIOUS!!!!

4. March Madness.  My bracket is set - we'll see how long it takes for it to blow up.

5. Photography. I have booked 3 jobs in the last week AND had one of my submitted photos nominated for a contest I didn't enter. Woo hoo!

6. Spring officially starts on Friday. Come on weather, cooperate already!

7. Text messages!  I have texted with some friends I hadn't heard from in a little while and it was good to catch up.

8. 20 days!!!!  20 days to the Cubs home opener. Unfortunately, I will NOT be there this year but will be watching.

It's Wednesday - you know what that means!  It's time to link up with Jodi and Rachel for another
What I'm Loving Wednesday

1. The third OUTLANDER book finally came in at the library for me. I am just diving in but loving it as much as the other two so far.  PS: Outlander starts again April 4 on Starz.

2. My first ag related magazine. My subscription started and I enjoy the Pink Tractor site and they just started a print magazine. And I figured since I work for an agriculture organization, I would start my "farm magazine" collection. There may be others in my future...

3. It's been warm enough for the Mr. and I to start walking again. We're still dodging some snow piles and icy spots - BUT we're enjoying being out together again.

4. My first sock has been cast on and I'm knitting away.

5. My orange MS cause band arrived. I'm wearing it with pride, Jodi! :)

Happy Wednesday! What are you loving this week?

Travel Tuesday

March over at A Compass Rose is "Local Legend" month.

This week, I am covering a little spot we stopped at on our vacation in 2012.
Tupelo National Battlefied in Tupelo, Mississippi

A little history on the Civil War battle of Tupelo:
On the morning of July 14, 1864 the Battle of Tupelo began here (1) at 7:30 a.m. when the Confederates began a series of uncoordinated charges against the Federal position. These attacks were beaten back with heavy losses. Failing to break the Federal center, the Confederates attacked the Federal right, (2) again without success. After dark, the Confederates made another attack from the south (3) without significant effect. Although his troops had repulsed several Confederate attacks, General Smith (Federal) was alarmed. The heat was taking its toll on his soldiers. Also, due to bad planning, his men had little but coffee and worm-infested hardtack (crackers) to eat, and their ammunition supply was very low.
At 2 p.m. on July 15, after skirmishing with Confederates on the western and southern fronts, the Federals began marching north in the direction of Memphis. (4) They marched four miles and crossed to the north side of Old Town Creek and camped in the late afternoon. (5) At 5 p.m., from a commanding ridge south of Old Town Creek, Confederate forces surprised Smith's troops with artillery and infantry fire. The Federals scrambled and formed a line that pushed the Confederates off the ridge (6) and forced them to retreat to Harrisburg. The fight at Old Town Creek ended the Battle of Tupelo. Among the casualties was Forrest himself, who was kept out of action for three weeks.

This site is tiny (and I mean maybe a city block big) - there's a monument and a couple of cannons. It's pretty but smack in the middle of Tupelo.  It is administered by the Natchez Parkway (which is a pretty drive through Mississippi, Tennessee and Alabama)

A closer look at the monument:

Finding Beauty Friday

TGIF!!!!
I am linking up again this week with Aimee for another Finding Beauty Friday.

I took this a few years ago. My favorite times of day are sunrise and sunset. I find it's a beautiful time for reflection and meditation.

What is your favorite time of day?
