Christmas Eve

We were lucky enough to be given tickets to the Christmas Eve afternoon Bears vs. Redskins game. Well - lucky enough until the game started badly and just stayed that way (as was the rest of the season...). It was a cold day but the wind stayed calm until about the last quarter, then it got pretty cold, pretty fast.

There were carolers on the concourse and they were fantastic!

The entrance was the highlight of the game (sorry to say).
Thank you to my aunt & uncle for the tickets.

Welcome to Wednesday!

Happy Wednesday!
I hope your week is going well. Sorry I've been a little MIA - my time has been filled with a few other things the past few days.

First, thank you all for your comments and emails on Friday's post. Your prayers and good thoughts are greatly appreciated! My FIL is having a procedure done in a couple of weeks to see how extensive the cancer is and what treatment options he will have.
Those of you requested to be on my 'snail mail' list, watch your mailboxes in the next few weeks.

We spent most of our meals this weekend, hovering around the grill. It was wonderful! We ate quite well, too. I am so glad we got a new grill and that warmer weather has returned!

The Mr. and Young Mr. went to the Hawks/Blues game on Sunday afternoon, in which the Hawks beat the Blues to move on in the playoffs. They had a GREAT time! The Mr. bought me a puck of my "hockey crush". Saad's a great player and works hard!

While they were at the game Little Miss and I sewed; painted our nails; walked to the library; watched a movie and I managed to sneak in a nap. It was a nice afternoon for us too!

This week has just been work, work, work so far. Nothing too exciting!

I hope you are all well!
Have a great day!

PS: I was so happy a new Chicago Fire was on last night. Tonight is the 2nd part of the crossover with Chicago PD - gonna have to rush home from work so I don't miss too much...

TGIF!

Is it just me or has it been a reeeeeaaaaaally long week? I am so glad it's Friday!

My NCAA bracket is not looking real good after yesterday.
It's a good thing we aren't big betters in our company!

We are headed to a hockey game tomorrow; I hope to get some crafting done; I hope to try out a new recipe this weekend; and watch the rest of the snow melt!

What are your weekend plans? Whatever you do, I hope you enjoy!

Thanks for stopping by!

WOW!

I forgot how "stressful" it is to pick your NCAA bracket. I have debated for two days. I won't get into specifics of how I pick but it's nothing scientific or mathmatical!

This is the only "gambling" I do all year and it's a $5 donation to the winner.

Do you pick a bracket? Will you pick one this year?

(I'll post my bracket in a few days)

October!

Well, baseball is over for me.  Thanks Cubs for another crappy season (66-96 - really?!)!

BUT, football is in full swing (keep winning Bears!).  And our Huskies are moving up the AP and USA Today polls - keep it up boys!
And tonight....

And the championship banner gets raised tonight!!!!!!

And of course, for those of you who know - this man is my hockey crush (it's Brandon Saad). I liked him when I watched in play in Rockford and he brought the same play to the Hawks when they brought him up last season.
GO HAWKS!!!!

And.....it's Chicago Fire night!!

Sunday randomness

Happy Sunday all!
So there are snowflakes in the air this morning....Puxatony Phil must die!!!  This is making me mad now.

I did a little scrapping yesterday

We went to the Chicago Rush game last night. The Rush lost (the die hards in my house were bummed). A great story though, the national anthem was sung by a Special Olympian. Was it a great rendition? Not really, BUT I guarantee you...NO ONE ever sang it with more heart! The players from both teams high fived him and hugged him when he was done.  There were a few tears wiped away by the time he was done too. To me, it was beautiful!

Baseball season starts in 8 days!  8 days!  I'm not expecting great (or even good) things from my Cubbies, but....I look forward to the season anyway.

Hoping the snow goes away and I can get another scrapbook layout or two done today.  Have a great Sunday!

Hubby & son are thrilled! I will have to watch the Olympics in the bedroom.

Curl this!

See the 2 yellow stones to the left - I threw those...
Last Thursday, our office & another office went curling for an afternoon. SO much fun!!!!! My arms hurt from sweeping but it was worth it.

HAWKS WIN!

photo from Chicago Tribune

The Chicago Blackhawks have won the Stanley Cup!
(or as DD said "family cup")

This is our son who refused to let us buy anything Hawks for him as they won their way through the playoffs, for fear of jinxing them...ok - I'll buy that! So this is him with a shirt in a store window that expressed his feelings WAY back toward the beginning of the season./a

I am by no means a hockey fan but I've been on the bandwagon the last week and it's been a fun ride. DS has been really into hockey the past few years and we have literally had to drag him away from the TV a few times this year when the Hawks were playing. He said around Christmas time that this was going to be the year - and he was right! He is a HUGE Patrick Kane fan (you hear that, Mr. Kane...don't let your celebrity go to your head - there's lots of kids watching!). When Patrick Kane lifted the Cup last night, it reduced DS to tears of joy!

He & DH were even lucky enough to have been invited to go to a game with an outing from my work and they had a GREAT time! The boys are headed to Chi-town tomorrow for the victory parade and rally.

Congratulations, Chicago Blackhawks!

Hoping & praying!

Magic number this morning: 1!!!!!!! Please, Cubbies!
Song by Eddie Vedder

Enjoy Cubs fans!

4!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(you'll be sick of me in another week!)

The magic number is 4!!!!!! My Cubs beat the Booers last night - woo hoo!!!!!!! That's right - they handed Sabathia is first loss this season in a Booers uniform. (Excuse me a moment - HA HA HA HA!!!!!!!!! - ok, sorry!) Thank you Soriano for the homer - we would have been in DEEP doo doo without it.

Yesterday was declared Carlos Zambrano Day in the state of Illinois - after he pitched his no-hitter on Sunday. Congrats, Z!

(Remember, I don't have much of a life, so you're going to be hearing lots of baseball the next few weeks!)

On another baseball type related notes: Cubs radio announcers, Pat Hughes & Ron Santo are both on the ballot for the Frick award. Vote often!

Update on our ENT visit:
We received our order to go ahead with DD's CT scan. So once that clears the insurance "pre approval" we will set that up. Then comes the discussion on hearing aids.

Happy Hump Day all!
Have a SUPER day!

GO CUBS!

Happy September!

WOW - September! Summer is almost over...
Tonight's post will just be randomness, so here goes.

We had a GREAT Labor Day weekend! Saturday night was a bridal shower for my co-worker, Edith! It was fun and hope she enjoyed herself. Sunday was a family picnic/reunion with my dad's family. He is one of nine and they all showed up with children in tow - so it was a full picnic area. We had LOTS of fun and the weather was quite nice. Yesterday, the four of us headed to the zoo. Now - it was HOT yesterday and we were very thankful for the breeze that we did have.

Today - was almost a July type day - 90s, humid and sunny! WHEW! Tomorrow's forecast? Rainy and 70. Gotta love the Midwest - the weather changes constantly.

The great Halloween costume quest has begun. Oh, yes! Belle...DD wants to be Belle. My MIL made her a Belle dress, now we just have to find the gloves and shoes. So far, this has not been an easy feat - but we are NOT defeated yet!

The Cubs...oh boy! It was a rough weekend and I hope they can turn it around here REAL soon! 4 numbers came to mind over the weekend... (in a stage whisper) 1-9-6-9. That's all I'm going to say. So far (it's the 5th inning) the game is looking pretty good against Houston! Crossing my fingers...

I've finished another book (yes, I will soon be posting my summer readings) this morning. If you like a steamy romance, check out Carly Phillips. I finished
  • Hot Number
  • . Fun, easy romance to read. Thanks for another great book, Carly! (Like she'd read this...)

Hope you all had a great Labor Day and that your short work week goes well!
Thanks for stopping by and reading my rambling.
    HUGS!

    Go, Huskies, Go!

The red & black are back!

Sadly however, our Huskies lost to Minnesota last night. They gave it a good fight - since DH & DS had counted the game as "over" at the mid-point of the 3rd quarter. They only lost by 4. They gave it a great try and were ahead at one point that I was watching.

Hope you're having a great weekend - we're off to a family picnic today.
